State of Paper Dice Games 2021

2020 was a year.

I don’t want to focus on the challenges, tragedy, and pain that many people experienced throughout the year. We’ve all lived it, and I’d rather focus on the bright spots for Paper Dice Games during the last 12 months in this article. So here they are.

It doesn’t seem like a lot, but given the amount of time I was able to spend on Paper Dice Games, I am pretty proud of it. I am especially proud of how Dwarf Mine turned out – it has quickly become my best selling game so far.

I also really want to thank everyone out there who checks out my games! It’s amazing to see so many people downloading games I’ve designed!

Here’s a fun stat – just this website alone saw over 1,700 downloads last year! That’s not counting the other areas (itch.io, DrivethruRPG) that you can find my games available for download and sale! It’s great to see so many people enjoying games, and to see these games bring some amount of happiness into the world.

Paper Dice Games in 2021

Looking forward to 2021, I want to stay focused on designing and playing games. Specifically, I’m hoping to release the following two items in 2021.

  • Dwarf Mine Expansions
  • Goblin Prisoners, an introductory RPG module for new players

I am also looking to do some playtesting for the following game concepts:

  • Star Solo (there’s no timeline on this game, but it likely won’t be done in 2021)
  • Zombie Daily (a mini game as a trial for Spellbook, a much more ambitious project)

These are mostly working titles, and don’t reflect what the final product will be called.

I’m looking forward to my design plans for 2021. Please drop me a line on BGG or twitter if you need something, have a question, or just want to chat.

Thanks, and stay safe out there!
