I’m very happy with what I was able to accomplish with Paper Dice Games in 2024.
Looking back the last two years, I got burned out at the end of 2022, and that carried through almost the entire first half of 2023. So, as I began to work towards my own goals, this was at the top of my mind.
I’m happy to say that, after spending a full year on Paper Dice Games in 2024, I am no where near feeling burned out. I have had a ton of fun designing games, writing and recording content, and interacting with all the wonderful fans of games out there.
I was also able to play quite a few games, which I talked about in an article from two weeks ago.
All of this – game design, content, and game playing – was balanced appropriately with other family and professional responsibilities. So overall, I think 2024 was quite successful from a Paper Dice Games perspective.

2024 Highlights
There were a lot of amazing highlights that occurred in 2024! I’ve created a short list by month below. Take a look and see if you missed out on anything!
January – I announced a new product that…didn’t get the reception I was hoping for, so it’s on the shelf for now.
I also reviewed the Traveller module High and Dry.
February – Star Solo was announced as a free game (for the time being).
I also dug into some very old role playing game notes.

April – Star Solo received its Kote Revolution update!
I also started my ill-fated podcast playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3.
June – I started recapping my solo Great Pendragon Campaign, and shared some of the solo resources I use.
I also shared some great old school games I bought off craigslist (like Stalking the Night Fantastic).
July – Star Solo received its Coronado update!
September – I announced the Artifacts and Curses expansion for Dwarf Mine, and professed my love for the old school AC1 Shady Dragon Inn module.
October – Star Solo received its Grease Junction update!
I also started a module highlights playlist for the Youtube channel. It’s a quick way to highlight some great parts of old school (or new old school) modules, even if the entire thing isn’t spectacular.
I also restarted a new campaign as Dungeon Master, which has been incredible so far.
November – Restarted my Top 10 videos playlist! I got great feedback and engagement on my Top 10 Pendragon mechanics that other RPGs should use, and my Top 10 DCC mechanics other RPGs should use. Best of all, I love making top 10 lists! Not sure why I stopped doing them…
December – Dwarf Mine: Artifacts and Curses was released! Reception has been great within the first few weeks, and I was happy to get back to releasing games.

I am happy to have spent more time designing and releasing games this year, and that is something I hope to continue into next year.
I also played a lot of new games, and was able to share my experiences more frequently than in previous years. I had an epiphany this year, and realized that I had benefited so much from researching game content that others have built, that maybe it’s time for me to give some of my experience back to the community. This is something that I’m hoping will continue into 2025 as well.
Final Thoughts
Overall, 2024 was a great year. I released the Star Solo free version, as well as Dwarf Mine Artifacts and Curses.
I began sharing my experiences playing games such as High and Dry for Traveller, Pendragon for solo play, and highlights of old school modules like the Shady Dragon Inn.
These two areas – designing and publishing games, as well as sharing experiences and tips through content – will be main focuses for me in 2025.
