First on the First

We are less than a month away from 2026, so I wanted to talk about First on the First – the Paper Dice Games Solo RPG Challenge for 2026!

First on the first is a solo RPG challenge for 2026.

On the first day of each month, the challenge is to play a new solo role playing game, or have a new solo RPG experience. This could include:

Playing a new solo role playing game you’ve never played before
Running a new adventure or module within a campaign you are currently playing
Using a new RPG tool or accessory that you’ve never tried before.

By the end of the year, you will have experienced 12 brand new solo RPG experiences!

Why a Solo RPG Challenge?

Like playing a digital game or solo board game, playing a solo role playing game is primarily a solo experience. However, there is a lot of joy to be found in sharing your experience with others.

That’s why I am going to try the First on the First challenge in 2026. I want to try new experiences in solo RPGs, and I want to share my new experiences out with other people.

If you haven’t tried a solo RPG challenge yet, consider trying one for 2026! It’s a fun way to get involved with a community, whether it be the First on the First challenge, or a different challenge below.
